,On the Twelfth Job of Christmas...
"Merthyr Dyfan, Candlelit Carols, Barry".
Christmas would not be Christmas without this Christmas Eve service. This is the third year we have done this and it is fair to say, that despite this being a tiny church, the entire band wants to be part of this event.
The Medieval church of Merthyr Dyfan is the perfect setting for this Job. It seems as if time stands still here and the church, being lit by candles only, deepens the sense of simplicity and reverence of this service.
The familiar melodies and words link congregations and bandsmen of the past who once sang and performed the same carols here. It is in this place, at this service, that the true magic of Christmas is truly captured. The 200+ congregation at this event reinforces this feeling of community and shared worship.
What a truly special way to end our musical year - A Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!
